What examples of global issues can you find to answer the driving question?
There are many global issues surrounding the topic of our discussion. Ever since governments have been in existence there have been people whom use that power for their own good. Governments were created for decision making. essentially their idea is that someone wise, or fair would be in charge for the country or nation and make decisions for them. For a long time that person would be someone of noble blood, like the Queen of England, she was not elected, but rather inherited the rule. It is not until only recently that democracy was suggested and used as a concept. it is still not used around the world, and those countries that don't use it are mostly the ones that we are researching. We will research instances of governments making controversial decisions, and the backlash form the public. In countries like China and Russia riots are not uncommon, and they are not unfounded. There is a reason that the people of the country are rioting, and this is why we are trying to figure out how the government is behind it. For example in china the public is very upset with the air pollution, and they constantly riot, hoping the government will do something to make it better. Yet, the government chooses to keep the factories that are producing so much smoke open in favor of the money that they create for the country. That is one way that governments abusing power affects the people.

Research on North Korea
North Korea is so bad that thousands of people have taken to fleeing the country.
They are labeled defectors by the government, and are basically considered traitors. if they were caught outside of north korea after defecting they are sent to concentration camps where they will be tortured and killed
Despite all of this the government still claims to be better than South Korea. compared to the north, the southern part of Korea looks like paradise. Infact, in the last 10 years only 2 people have defected from South Korea to North Korea while thousands of North Koreans have gone to the south
I think this goes to prove that when a government abuses its power the results are not pleasant. In many other countries for example (...) the citizens riot, and may even start civil wars. The same would've happened in North Korea, but the government is so strict on the citizens
if the citizens were to speak out they would lose their lives, and so they either live the rest of their life out miserably, or the try to escape
