1: What have I learned about the topic?
I learned a lot from doing this group project. We chose a very big and very impact full subject when we decided to talk about governments, and about the abuse of power. Previously before this project I had no idea that anywhere in the world there were still concentration camps that were being used by a government against its citizens. I had thought that concentration camps were a thing of the past that ended in World War 2, and now i know, that for some people living in North-Korea concentration camps were a very real, and life threatening thing. Another thing I didn't know about was the level to which governments surveilled their citizens. I read many accounts of people whom were planning on defecting form North-Korea, only to be caught because the government had been listening in on their calls. I would have never thought that any government would invade the privacy of its own citizens like that. Its not only North-Korea that I learned some things about. I also learned from Kush's discussion that bribery is alive and thriving in the russian government. He talked about how the rate of bribery has been rising in the recent years, and that really opened my eyes to some of the corruption that is going on in some governments without anyone knowing anything about. It makes me wonder what out Canadian government is hiding?
2:What have I learned about the inquiry process?
During this group project I learned many things about myself. I learned that I am very good at panning, group work and leading. Our project was very planned out. We sat down and decided together what we would do, and most of the time i would lead the discussion, keep everyone on track and get things organized, and dead lines placed. With me the group was very organized, and everyone knew what they were doing. we had almost no arguments, and the arguments that we did have were quickly resolved, with everyone coming to a short compromise. Another thing that I discovered about myself during this project is that I am not very good at brainstorming. i am the type of learner that improvises, and starts on the work right away. I do not need or want to plan out my thoughts before I start working. as soon as an idea comes into my head put it down right away. For example, I wrote the majority of the script in one go without any planning. I sat down on Tallis's chromebook (I had forgotten mine) and wrote the entire introduction to the script, and even some of the other lines that were tied into personal research. So over all, my planning, deadlines, group work, and project creation were excellent, but where i lacked was when it came down to brainstorming, and writing my thoughts on paper before acting them out immediately. In the future iI will work on my brainstorming and continue to develop my other skills.
